Absolutely. You can use AquaSpelling to practice spelling in most of the languages. As you create the word list and record the word pronunciation, you are in control. The program does not impose any limits on you. You can also use special characters as long as they are supported by Windows.
When you launch AquaSpelling you can also choose a language. This option only controls the language that is used to display texts on the screens, error messages and online help documentation. Currently, you can only choose between English or Spanish. This language has no impact on the words that can be recorded.
The first thing we have to determine is whether this is a general problem with your computer or it is a AquaSpelling problem. Please, follow these steps:
- Launch the Sound Recorder application. To do so, click the Start button and select Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Sound Recorder. This procedure may vary with the Windows version you are using (for example, in Windows 95 you need to look for Multimedia instead of Entertainment).
- Click the Record button.
- Once the Sound Recorder starts recording, speak clearly to the microphone for a few seconds.
- Click the Stop button.
- Click the Back to Start button.
- Click the Play button and listen to the recorded sound.
If the quality of the sound you are getting is similar to the one you are getting with AquaSpelling, it looks like the problem might be with your sound card or the microphone. Refer to their respective documentation for troubleshooting.
If you do not experience the same problems you experience with AquaSpelling and you did not find an answer to your question in other sound related FAQs, please send us an email to support@soletesoftware.com
If the sound is cut off at the beginning, you are starting to speak too early. Wait until you see the microphone on the screen before you start speaking. If the sound is still cut off, wait an extra second before speaking.
If the sound is cut off at the end, you are clicking the Stop button too early. After finishing the pronunciation of the word or phrase, wait an extra second before clicking the Stop button.
