Multiple Languages: AquaSpelling does not come with any prerecorded word and it does not have any predefined spelling rule for any language so you can use it to practice spelling in a variety of languages (English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, etc.). You can use any special character supported by Windows (ñ, á, è, etc.). You can very easily create lists of words in different languages by using the freely definable categories. You then select what language you want to practice by choosing the appropriate category. For example, you can use it to learn spelling in English, Spanish and French at the same time.

History of AquaSpelling

I initially developed AquaSpelling for my kids. Living in the US but not having English as my first language, I always struggled to help my kids with their spelling list. Sometimes, my kids had a hard time understanding the word I was trying to say ("did you say 'this' or 'these'?", "did you say 'live' or 'leave'?", etc.). I decided to develop this program so they could record their own words with the proper accent and pronunciation. The program gave them a sense of freedom and independence as they could practice spelling without me, when it was better for them (not necessarily for me). It also saved me a lot of time.

If you can relate to my experience you can also greatly benefit from using AquaSpelling. However, you do not need to be in my situation to get the full benefits from it. Even if you speak the language (English or any other language you want your kids to learn spelling for) you can still save a lot of time and allow them to practice when it is convenient to them, not to you (You set the list once when you can. They can practice for as long as they need when they have the time) . You can also let them record the words. It is amazing to see how kids like to record and listen to their own words so, it may be an additional incentive to practice spelling.
